Richard Pryor was an inspiration to me because of his attitude. Although his comedy was controversial and his life just as much so, I could see a subtext that I could identify with. He helped me understand why and how I was able see the lighter side of tragedy. I was literally losing my mind until I sensed a kinship in him. He and I both walked that thin line between the love of life and the desire for death. Richard inspired me to learn to live and give and try to be a positive force in life. I didn’t know you, but I knew you.
