My maternal grandfather was Willard Logan. All of us know him simply as “Papaw”.This man was a significant power in my life. He was very quiet man generally, but had a significant impact on me. Having worked in construction from the time he was 12 years old, he had a very strong presence. And although he was kind of a hell-raiser when he was younger, he became a devout baptist in his later years. He served in the military during World War II – and was actually present during the 3rd day of the Normandy invasion. Papaw’s quiet strength always made me feel loved and cared for.
